These are some of my figure drawings from the figure drawing class that we did with Tommy Van Auken. One of the most helpful things I learned from this experience was too use searching and topographical lines when forming the figure. Even between the first two drawings you can see improvement on that front because the first drawing is more of an outline of the body shape. Changing how I held my pencil so that I held it the "wrong" way helped me to be able to use searching lines lightly enough that I could still add darker parts later. Learning more about the anatomy of the body and how it was able to move also helped me with drawing the legs in the right spot and remembering to think about how the whole body was effected by a specific movement. I still have a lot to work on though. First of all I normally had trouble with the proportions of the figure, specifically with the hight. In a bunch of drawings I drew the legs too short and didn't notice until I had quite a bit of detail there. In the future I want to work on proportion some more and also practice paying extra attention to the proportions of a figure drawing at the beginning. I also want to improve on exaggerating movement in my drawings. Over the course of the week that we did these drawings, my figure drawings gained a lot more movement but I still want to improve. In future drawings I would also like to try and limit the amount of time I could spend on them because that really helped me with the figure drawings that I made during this time.
