Lately, I have been working on a project that is pretty different from what I have done before. I am making a sculptural piece out of crochet, which is similar to one of my recent pieces since it also has crochet elements in it, but this one is a little different because the only material I am using is string. (And also some glue). I started by making some forms out of newspaper that I could crochet around. The process of making the crochet pieces was fairly simple because I could stretch or scrunch up the "fabric" in the places where it didn't quite fit right. One of the tedious parts of the process was that I got the string I used for crocheting by pulling apart some thicker yarn. If I do something this again, I am not sure if I will continue pulling apart the yarn because it is tedious but also relaxing to do.

My next step in the process was to dip the yarn in glue and drape it over the newspaper mold. When the glue had dried I took it off the mold, which worked a lot better than I thought it would because I could bend the form a little to take it off and cut the string in areas where the edges were messy. After sewing the pieces together, I added a piece of wire for structural support. I think that it would be a cool idea to do something else with a wire structure so that I could make forms that don't seem like they should structurally be able to stand up.
