Chris Wolston is an artist who creates pieces including chairs, light installations, and sculptures. He is based in Brooklyn, New York and Medellín, Colombia.

Education: Before he got a bachelors in Fine Arts, he studied at the Kokrobitey Institute in Ghana, which he said inspired his interest in non-Western art making techniques. Afterwards, he got a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Glass) and Rhode Island School of Design and then went to the University of Antioquia in Columbia as a Fulbright Research Fellow.
Residencies: Once of the residencies that he participated in was when he went to the University of Antioquia as a Fulbright research fellow, but before that he was a part of many more residencies. His first fellowship was at the Haystack School of Craft for experimental work in glass. Since then he has been a part of many more glass related fellowships and more recently, he was at the Havana Design Workshop and the Urban Glass Visiting Artist Fellowship.
Galleries and other representation: He currently shows his work through The Future Perfect gallery and Artsy. He has also been featured in Magazines like Architectural Digest.

I really like how Wolston was able to make such unique shapes out of wicker. The negative space of the chair is really interesting as well as the different line weights of the squiggly arm pieces. The texture of the wicker also creates a really nice pattern.

I love the use of many different shapes here to create interesting negative space. In this piece many different things come together to be one.
